Nordica Hot Rod Nitrous XBI with Marker Piston Binding - 2008-08-17

New graphic for 08-09.

Lighter and softer than the Top Fuel (with the same shape and laminate construction), the Nitrous was a category winner for our testers. This model will work better for smaller skiers than its big brother, but it got high marks overall from a variety of testers. It’s targeted at less aggressive or skilled skiers than the Top Fuel, but the Nitrous really is more of a different feel than a big step down. Speed-mongers will feel a little less stability at warp 9, but for the rest of us, the lighter, quicker Nitrous will probably be more fun (and save you a couple hundred bucks).

Like all of Nordica’s skis, the Nitrous is at heart a wood core laminate ski- and it’s solid feel and round flex show it. It also has a fairly straight tail, which makes for better performance in the steeps and at speed. Our tester noted it’s surprisingly good powder performance, but it really shined in the crud at speed. One of our tester’s (a 165lb aggressive expert) chose this as his best in show, and everyone who tested it praised the ski’s performance, friendly energy, and versatility. Skiers who like the feel of Volkls, but find them too stiff/heavy, should check out this great all-mtn carver.

Compare to the the Rossignol Zenith Z10, K2 Apache Recon, or the Salomon Tornado.
Comes with integrated Marker iPT Piston Control binding.
